Island Valley Bulldogs
The following contract is between Amy Herring ( Breeder ) and _____________ (Buyer) for the sale of one Valley Bulldog puppy.
This puppy will become the property of the Buyer upon fulfillment of the following conditions:
1. Purchase price of $600.00 CDN paid by the Buyer to the Breeder. A non-refundable deposit of $100 CDN has been made on __________, and the puppy will be held until January 10, 2008. At this time, the balance of the purchase price, $500 CDN, must be paid in full before the puppy will be released to the Buyer. If this requirement is not met, the previously paid deposit will not be returned to the Buyer, and other arrangements will be made for placement of the puppy. Final payment must be made in cash, money order, or bank certified check.
2. All transportation costs will be paid by the Buyer. Shipping can be arranged, with all arrangements being made and paid for by the Buyer. If by plane, the puppy will be prohibited from flying until it reaches ten weeks of age. Transportation costs must be prepaid before shipping takes place.
3. The puppy will be available for pickup on or shortly after January 10, 2008, at eight weeks of age. No exceptions will be made to this rule, as essential behavior is learned during this time from the puppy’s interactions with its mother and siblings.
4. THE BUYER IS ENTERING INTO A STRICT NO-BREEDING CONTRACT. The Breeder highly recommends to have the puppy spayed/neutered by eight (8) months of age, by a reputable veterinarian to prevent unnecessary health and aggression problems. For the duration of the puppy's life, the puppy will not be allowed to breed with any other dog, no matter the breed or reason. Any violation of this term will result in a $600 CDN fine, as well as a $500 CDN fine for each puppy produced in the litter, payable to the Breeder. This term is to protect the puppy in question, the reputation of the breeder, and the integrity of the Valley Bulldog breed.
5. The puppy is being purchased as a companion or family pet only. The puppy will not be used for breeding purposes, and will not be used as a guard or attack animal, or be allowed to take part in any illegal activities.
6. The buyer agrees that the puppy will not be resold, given away, or surrendered to an animal shelter without first contacting the Breeder. If circumstances change, the Breeder must be contacted immediately. The Breeder insists on maintaining the integrity of the Valley Bulldog breed, the Breeder's reputation, and to ensure the safety and well being of all puppies produced by the Breeder.
7. The Breeder warrants that the puppy has been vet checked by a reputable veterinarian, and is found to be free of illness and parasites on the date of purchase. The puppy will be in a state of good health before it is released to the Buyer. The Breeder does not guarantee the puppies health once it leaves the premises, and it is the responsibility of the Buyer to provide the appropriate vaccinations, flea and worm medications, a proper diet, fresh water, shelter and supervision to ensure a healthy animal. If the puppy must be euthanized before the age of one year due to hereditary problems, written confirmation and veterinarian results must be provided to the Breeder at the Buyers expense, followed by a full refund of the purchase price, or a puppy of the Breeder's choice, if available.
8. The puppy will have had two veterinarian office visits before it will be released to the Buyer. The puppy will have its tail docked, as well as being dewormed at 4, 6 and 8 weeks of age with Stongid-T. The puppy will also have its first set of needles at eight weeks of age, and it is recommended to vaccinate the puppy again at 12 and 16 weeks of age, followed by an annual booster vaccine.
9. The puppy will be released to the Buyer with a puppy package including a copy of this contract, and all veterinary records for the puppy. As well, there will be a bag of puppy food to allow the Buyer to switch to their preferred brand, a toy, and a blanket. The Breeder will also provide lifelong support to the Buyer.
10. The Buyer is responsible for raising this puppy in a safe and welcoming environment, free from immediate dangers to the puppy. The Buyer will also socialize the puppy, to the best of their ability, with things such as small children, cats and other animals, various dogs, strange people and situations. The Buyer will also provide the puppy with proper veterinarian care throughout its life. The puppy will not be housed primarily outdoors, as this breed is not suitable for these conditions.
This contract is a legally binding contract, and should be treated as such. Violation of the previous conditions may result in voiding of any warranty against the puppy, as well as potential legal action.
This contract is designed to protect the integrity of the Valley Bulldog breed, the reputation of the Breeder, the life and health of the puppy in question, and the Buyer as a pet owner. By signing this contract, all parties understand the conditions mentioned, and agree to uphold all conditions.
